We are a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt nonprofit thrift store located in Hamtramck, MI. After we pay expenses, all our profits from the store and online support the work we do in the community. We respond to urgent needs in Hamtramck on a case-by-case basis; please let us know if we can assist you. All our products are donated by people who believe in our mission, and we don’t do consignment. We currently don’t schedule pickups, but please call us if you’re unable to deliver; we sometimes make exceptions if it makes sense.

The idea for Joy Thrift originated from Louise, our first store manager, who played a crucial role in getting it started.

  • Store Hours: Mon-Sat, 11 am-7 pm

  • There is usually parking in front of our store on Joseph Campau. The other option is parking on the side streets. There are usually free spots on Caniff and Trowbridge.

  • You can drop off in-kind items anytime during store hours. We have a loading dock in the back of the store, or you can pull into the alley for a short time. If a truck is blocking the alley, we can help get them to move, or you can bring it through the front of the store. Please ring the doorbell or call 313-462-4173 and someone will open the door and help unload. If you need a tax receipt, please let us know.   • You can get involved with Joy Thrift by dropping off in-kind donations, giving a financial donation to support our fund for urgent community needs, volunteering, or organizing a collection drive.
